Dream Location in Cape Coral

The Villas 'Florida Travel BLOG'

We love Florida and often spend our vacations and travels in the Sunshine State every year. We also love the sun and warmth that the climate always shares with us. We also love to be on the road discovering new areas and locations or to rediscover well-known. Sometimes there is the special moment or situation that sticks in our minds when we've been on side routes and narrow streets having discovered lonely places or met and talked to interesting people.
Where ever we’ve been, we've met lovely and communicative people. We talked, got hints and recommendations and always a smile.

If you love nature, wildlife, unexpected landscapes and spots, then here, in this blog, you'll find a lot to discover before starting your journey to Florida.

Trip-Part #3: From Apalachicola to St. Augustine

And here we are again!
This morning we first drive back to Wakulla, north on I10 to Jacksonville, south to St Augustine.

Who wants to go, should make a city trolly tour - otherwise you’ll learn nothing.
We recommend the breakfast in the COFFEE HOUSE, San Marco Ave 47. Coincidencely we find this pretty maintained Arts Café. It is the only place that openes at 7 AM. Immediately we were in conversation with the owners Diane and Theo, who moved the place from Key West to St Augustine a while ago because Key West had a long Covid lock down. Diane and Theo are artists and the cafe is full of their own arts which can be purchased. The cappuccino is great, the croissants and quiches excellent, the juices freshly squeezed. They also offer Airbnb.

The onward journey took us first to Cocoa Beach and some other places on the middle east coast. We must admit, we were quickly bored after eventful days and impressions on this road (A1) because of the monotonous development. So we went inland, drove through passing ranches,  forests and meadows, through a place called Yeehaw on to Okeechobee, the town in the north of the big O-Lake.
The new Fishing Pier is beautiful, great view of the ‘lake’ behind the dike, further, passsing large mobilehome settlements. We finished our tour driving via La Belle back home, to Cape Coral. A wonderful round trip that we can recommend!
